Hey Gamers and Gamettes. If you’re like me then you were waiting with anticipation for Ellie’s return in The Last of Us Part II. Unfortunately, our wait for this awesome title will be extended. Sony posted on their Twitter account that the game will be delayed indefinitely. Not only has The Last of Us Part II been delayed, Iron Man VR is also taking the backseat as well.
Update: SIE has made the difficult decision to delay the launch of The Last of Us Part II and Marvel's Iron Man VR until further notice. Logistically, the global crisis is preventing us from providing the launch experience our players deserve.— PlayStation (@PlayStation) April 2, 2020
Naughty Dog has also given a statement about the delay via Twitter.
This is marks the third time The Last of Us Part II has been held back. Development issues pushed the game’s launch date to May 29 from its February release date. It was also supposed to launch last year. However, unlike the previous delays, this one is not development related. It is likely due to the nature of the game itself which centers of fighting creatures infected with a fungal virus. Both Sony and Naughty Dog feel that releasing the game would not be beneficial due to COVID-19 pandemic. Hopefully, a swift end will be brought to this virus.
Sony reports that no further delays on upcoming titles. Another highly anticipated game, Ghosts of Tsushima, is scheduled for release in June. Hopefully, that does not suffer the same fate.
Until next time, this is DevilDriver1313 and I’ll see you “On the NXT LVL!”
