Get Out and Us director Jordan Peele brings new life into the Candyman franchise with a new film starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta in Aquaman), Teyonah Parris (Dear White People), Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and Colman Domingo (Fear the Walking Dead). The film also sees Tony Todd and Vanessa A. Williams reprising their roles as the title character and Anne-Marie McCoy. It is a direct sequel to the original 1992 film, ignoring all previous continuity. Mateen portrays Anthony McCoy, an artist who as a child survived the Candyman’s rampage nearly thirty years ago.
Jordan Peele wrote the screenplay and is producing the film with 29 year old director Nia DaCosta at the helm. Candyman opens June 12, 2020.
