Marvel Studios has revealed plans to adapt the martial arts action comic Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings into a live action film. They have also announced that the film will feature an nearly all Asian cast. Shang-Chi first appeared in 1973 during the boom of martial arts films. He is an expert in all forms of martial arts with the super ability to duplicate himself. He has gone up against Namor, defeated Thanos’ forces and even beat Spider-Man. He joined the Avengers’ roster in the “Avengers NOW!” relaunch. His popularity is sure to rise when the film releases in 2021 with Marvel bringing this otherwise relatively unknown character to the spotlight.
Kevin Feige, the man responsible for putting the Avengers in the spotlight, talks with the New York Film Academy about the project.
