Paramount Pictures is hoping the third time around will be the charm for the G.I. Joe film franchise. Their first two attempts were met with mixed reviews from both critics and fans. They hoping the next film will change that, as well as their next leading lady.
Actress Samara Weaving has been cast for the role of Shana O’Hara aka Scarlett in the Robert Schwentke directed “G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes” film. The film has already filled out most of the cast including Snake Eyes’ teacher Hard Master (Iko Uwais) and his brother-turned sworn enemy Storm Shadow (Andrew Koji). More recently, Úrsula Corberó signed on to costar in the film as Ana Lewis aka. The Baroness, the head of intelligence operation for the G.I. Joe property’s big bad Cobra.
Weaving herself has been in 2016’s action comedy film “Monster Truck”, starred alongside Steven Yeun in the action comedy-thriller “Mayhem,” and has a lead role in the Netflix film “The Babysitter.” She has recently starred the comedic horror film “Ready or Not” with Adam Brody, Andie MacDowell, and Mark O’Brien. Weaving will next star in Jason Lei Howden’s action comedy Guns Akimbo with Daniel Radcliffe and Bill & Ted Face the Music as Thea Preston, daughter of Bill S. Preston played original actor Alex Winter.
Samara Weaving’s paternal uncle is actor Hugo Weaving.
