Zoe Kravitz cast to portray Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman!!”

Warner Bros has found their next femme fatale for the Matt Reeves’ directed “The Batman” film. Deadline reported that Zoe Kravitz, daughter of singer Lenny Kravitz and Cosby Show star Lisa Bonnet, has been cast to play Selina Kyle aka Catwoman alongside Robert Pattison’s Bruce Wayne aka Batman.

Kravitz has an impressive acting career, starring some of Hollywood’s biggest hits. Her breakthrough role came as Angel Salvadore in the 2011 superhero film “X-Men: First Class,” which was followed by roles in “The Divergent” series and “Mad Max: Fury Road.” She has also had a role in the “Harry Potter” spinoff “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and its sequel, “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” Zoe is no stranger to the Catwoman role. She did portray the character in the “LEGO: Batman Movie.”

Selina Kyle / Catwoman is one of the most prominent female characters in Batman history. She was perhaps most memorably played on the big screen by Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns, followed by Halle Berry (who played a character named Patience Phillips rather than Selina Kyle) in the lackluster Catwoman standalone movie. Anne Hathaway portrayed the conflicted cat burglar in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises albeit never donning the Catwoman name. The villainess was also played by Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt, and Lee Meriwether in the 1960s Batman series and sequel movies alongside Adam West, while Camren Bicondova took on the younger iteration of Selina in Fox’s Gotham (with Lili Simmons playing her adult self in the series finale).
